Job description

The PACE KC Medical Director is responsible for the delivery of member care, clinical outcomes, and the implementation, as well as oversight of the quality improvement program for PACE KC. The Medical Director serves as the lead in designing the medical components for PACE KC and as a liaison to the medical community on its behalf. As a physician member of the team, the Medical Director must meet all federal and state licensing laws, certifications, and regulations. The role includes acting as a consultant and resource to Primary Care Physicians, on-call physicians, and Nurse Practitioners. The Medical Director will perform both administrative and direct patient care duties.

Under the direction of the PACE KC Executive Director and the Chief Health Officer, the Medical Director will facilitate the development of an operational bridge between PACE KC and health centers, and help establish a geriatric care service line at the health center. These activities include, but are not limited to:

1. Establishing and maintaining an operational link between the two organizations, including a referral system.
2. Leading or facilitating the development of a primary care service line for geriatric patients at the health center, including clinical education and training of the care management team to ensure the program's sustainability.
3. Developing and maintaining strategies to support mutual support between PACE KC and the health center.
4. Supporting clinic care teams through active patient care at health clinics.
