Job summary

Wayside is looking for a dynamic Family Partner to support parents/caregivers of DMH-eligible youth in the Waltham area. The role emphasizes lived experience as a parent and delivering one-to-one encouragement and resources.

You will work with families, connect them to services, and collaborate with providers to address emotional and behavioral health needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Lived experience as a parent/caregiver of a youth involved in mental health systems is required.
• Reliable driver's license and consistent vehicle access are required.
• Knowledge of behavioral health systems, DMH, DCF resources, and special education law is important.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide hope, information, encouragement and one-to-one support to parents/caregivers of children with emotional/behavioral health issues.
• Help caregivers plan for the strengths and needs of their child.
• Assist caregivers in accessing resources, services and supports.
• Collaborate with providers and families to meet youths’ mental health needs.

Family Partner – Community Based

Full-Time or Part-Time/ Waltham

Salary: $22.00 - $25.50/hour depending on experience + s ign-on bonus (half paid after 6 months of employment and half paid after 1 year of employment/pro-rated for part-time).

This position can be a full-time or a part-time.

Wayside is seeking a dynamic, talented, and compassionate Family Partner to provide supportive service to parents/caregivers of DMH eligible youth. The Family Partner must have “lived experience” as a parent/primary caregiver of a youth who is/has been involved in the Mental Health system.

What you will do:

• The Family Partner provides hope, information, encouragement, and one-to-one support to parents/caregivers of children with emotional/behavioral health issues.
• Assists caregivers in planning for the strengths and needs of their child.
• Help parents/caregivers access resources, services and support.
• Team up and consult with providers and parents/caregivers about how to best meet the needs of youth with mental health concerns.

MinimumRequirements:

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Lived experience as a parent/primary caregiver of a youth who is/has been involved in the Mental Health System.
• Reliable automotive and valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of behavioral health systems and services, DMH, and DCF resources, special education law and services, and other social service resources, and how to access these services
• Bilingual is a plus but not required.
