Job summary

Norwescap is hiring a Family Partner for the Family Success Center in Northwestern New Jersey. The role is full-time, nonexempt, and pays $21.00-$23.00 per hour for 35 hours per week.

The position focuses on supporting low-income families, coordinating recruitment of families and volunteers, connecting parents with community resources, and facilitating parenting programs. Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field is preferred.
  • 3 years working with culturally diverse families.
  • Driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains confidential enrollee records including family contact documentation, participation, referrals, outcomes, and requested information.
  • Coordinates recruitment of individuals, families, partners and volunteers.
  • Assists parents in utilizing community resources through information, referrals, follow-ups and support systems.
  • Provides information and techniques to enhance parenting skills; facilitates Active Parenting Classes.
  • Develops confidence in parents and offers leadership/volunteer opportunities in a supportive setting.
  • Facilitates parent discussion groups to encourage mutual support and sharing about parent/child relationships.
  • Acts as link between parents, school and community; supports families with referrals and follow-through.
  • Creates and implements at least four monthly projects/activities/presentations.
  • Uses family strengths to develop goals to meet needs; understands Protective Factors.
  • Demonstrates understanding of Protective Factors and Essential Functions.

Family Partner | Family Success Center

$21.00-23.00/hour | 35 Hours/Week | Full Time | Nonexempt

Essential Functions
  • 1. Maintains a confidential record keeping system which includes for each enrollee: family contact documentation, parent participation, referrals, outcomes and any other information requested by the family.
  • 2. Coordinating the recruitment of individuals, families, partners and volunteers.
  • 3. Assists parents in fully utilizing all available community resources through information, referrals, follow-ups and support systems (i.e. babysitting, public transportation); including updating resources and referrals and maintaining a directory
  • 4. Provides information and techniques to enhance parenting skills; facilitation of Active Parenting Classes.
  • 5. Develops a sense of self-confidence within parents and provides leadership/volunteer opportunities in a non-threatening, non-judgmental setting.
  • 6. Facilitates supportive parent discussion groups to encourage mutual support and sharing both problems and solutions regarding the parent/child relationship.
  • 7. Serves as link between parent, school and community, while acting as family advocate when needed. Provides ongoing support and follow through with the family in relations to referral source. Utilizes family engagement in these relationships by developing positive rapport while highlighting community strengths and identifying challenges.
  • 8. Creates and implements special projects/activities/presentations (a minimum of four per month)
  • 9. Uses strengths of families to develop family goals to meet needs.
  • 10. Demonstrates an understanding of the Protective Factors and Essential Functions.
Education and Experience
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Services or related field preferred
  • 3 years working with culturally diverse families.
  • Driver's License, Reliable transportation required
  • High Degree of proficiency required in Microsoft Products, Google Suite, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. However, this position may require occasional event attendance and site visits for specific needs or advisement.
