Job summary

Hudson Gate Partners in New York, NY seeks a seasoned Controller (Family Office) to oversee private equity and related accounting across a diverse asset base, including art and real estate. The role requires a must-have background in private equity fund accounting and offers a direct track to CFO within 24 months.

You will lead a lean team, manage complex fund accounting, and ensure accurate NAV reporting, cash management, and audit coordination in a high-touch environment.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience with emphasis on private equity accounting.
• Expertise in partnership accounting, waterfall distributions, capital calls, and multi-entity consolidation.
• Experience with commercial real estate and alternative assets such as fine art.
• Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves work style capable of strategic and detailed tasks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee private equity funds, co-investments, commercial real estate ventures, and art collection accounting.
• Manage daily cash management and high-volume wire transfers.
• Supervise and review the internal bookkeeper's day-to-day work.
• Prepare timely financial statements, NAV calculations, and performance reports for all entities.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals for year-end reporting and compliance.
• Maintain audit-ready records with strong emphasis on accuracy and risk management.
