Job summary

Elevance Health's Paragon Healthcare unit in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (PRN) to support patient care under physician supervision. The clinician will perform advanced assessments, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patients across specialty areas in a face-to-face clinic setting.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, ordering and interpreting tests, forming and documenting care plans, prescribing therapies, and participating in on-call coverage as required.

Qualifications

• MS in Nursing or equivalent
• Current RN license and NP license in applicable state
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience

Responsibilities

• Provides direct clinical services under physician supervision using evidence-based standards.
• Performs comprehensive physical assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests and discusses results with the physician.
• Develops and documents care plans, prescribes medications and therapies as appropriate.
• Participates in On-Call program including after-hours, weekends, and holidays.

Job description

Location: 1855 Medical Center Pkwy, Suite G, Murfreesboro, TN 37129

Shift: Days. Clinic is open Monday- Friday, 8a-4p. 1-5 Shifts per week as needed based on higher census days, Sick Call and PTO.

Onsite: This role requires associates to work from the posted locations full-time, enabling consistent face-to-face collaboration, teamwork, and direct engagement. This policy promotes an environment built on in-person interaction, communication, and immediate support.

The Family Nurse Practitioner (PRN) will be responsible for providing for the health care needs of patients in collaboration with a physician, through advanced assessment and identification of health states including abnormal conditions, diagnosing, treatment therapies and/or evaluation. Performs care in a specialty area such as cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, etc.

• Utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards to provide direct clinical services for patients within prescribed guidelines and physician instructions.
• Acts independently to perform physical assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions regarding a wide variety of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations.
• Acquires patient health histories and evaluates patient, performing physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients clinical problems and health care needs.
• Discusses case with physician.
• Formulates and documents care plan.
• Prescribes medication, therapies an/or other forms of treatment.
• Evaluates the patient’s response to therapy.
• Participates in On-Call program, which may include after-hours, weekend and holiday calls and visitations.

Minimum Requirements

• Requires an MS in Nursing and minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
• Current unrestricted RN license and NP license in applicable state required.
• For Paragon and Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position and Hepatitis B vaccine or signed waiver.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities And Experiences

• Healthcare experience with IV’s strongly preferred.
• 2+ years of experience with IV preferred.
• Port, PICC & Peripheral Line experienced preferred.
• Medication Mixing experience is preferred.
• Titration experience preferred.
