Job summary

Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a Family Medicine Physician to join our Residency Faculty in Tampa, FL. This full-time role blends outpatient family medicine with supervising, mentoring, and teaching residents.

Physicians gain clinical practice while contributing to the residency program, with no prior academic medicine experience required. TFHC supports education, patient-centered care, and community health within a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine
• Active and unrestricted Florida medical license, or eligibility to obtain one
• Active DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain one
• Current Basic Life Support certification
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
• Interest in teaching, mentoring, and supporting physician learners
• Commitment to evidence-based medicine, professional development, and continuing medical education
• Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds
• Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary clinical and academic environment
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive outpatient Family Medicine care across the lifespan
• Manage preventive care, acute illness, chronic disease, and routine primary care needs
• Perform patient histories, physical examinations, clinical assessments, and medical diagnoses
• Order, review, and interpret laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
• Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and coordinate follow-up care
• Make appropriate referrals for specialty care, diagnostic services, and additional treatment
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation
• Complete billing charges and clinical tasks in accordance with organizational requirements
• Participate in daily care team huddles, peer review, quality improvement, and population health initiatives
• Support efforts to close care gaps and improve clinical outcomes
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers, nursing staff, behavioral health professionals, pharmacists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety
• Comply with HIPAA, HRSA, federal, state, accreditation, and TFHC requirements
