We are seeking a dedicated Family Medicine physician to join our Akron Family Medicine Residency Program or Barberton Family Residency Program. Both program details will be listed below. Open to new graduates and experienced providers. The selected candidate will become a member of the Summa Health Medical Group, a multi-specialty group practice with nearly 700 providers employed by the Summa Health System. Comprised of 2 hospitals and over 20 health centers, Summa Health is one of the largest integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems in the state.
As a Core Family Medicine Faculty member, you will play a vital role in the education and training of our residents. Your clinical expertise and passion for family medicine will help shape the future of healthcare professionals. While previous teaching experience is desirable, it is not required. We welcome candidates with a strong clinical background who are enthusiastic about teaching and mentoring residents.
Currently the program has 24 resident positions (8-8-8), is accredited by the ACGME with Osteopathic Recognition, and is PCMH (NCQA) certified residency practice. We practice full spectrum Family Medicine with continuity OB as well as a dedicated Inpatient Family Medicine hospital service. The Family Medicine Center is committed to the service of our community through a model of multidisciplinary care that includes medication assisted therapy, integrated Behavioral Health, Clinical Pharmacists on site, embedded Social Services and offers extended services via a fresh Food Pantry as well as a Medical-Legal partnership.
At Summa Health- Barberton Campus has trained nearly 200 family physicians. Barberton Hospital was founded in 1981 and became a part of Summa Health in 2007. Currently the program has 18 resident positions (6-6-6) and is the only residency based at Barberton Hospital. However, residents have full access to all of Summa Health's educational resources. Core faculty are responsible for precepting the residents' care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, developing and presenting formal lectures, and providing leadership in promoting high-quality care and resident scholarship.
