CLIN AST/ASO PROF
The Department of Community Health and Family Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville seeks MD/DO, family medicine/internal medicine physicians to join our team. Candidates licensed as general practitioners, Areas of Critical Need (ACN), or eligible for a Medical Faculty Certificate (MFC) are encouraged to apply. The position is for Assistant/Associate Professor level, full-time, on a clinical non-tenure accruing track at our outpatient care office - UF Health Family Medicine.
The University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville is the largest of the three colleges at the Health Science Center Jacksonville. It is affiliated with UF Health in Jacksonville, which includes two hospitals — UF Health Jacksonville (603 beds) and UF Health North (92 beds) — along with more than 60 primary and specialty care practices across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
The college's 16 clinical science departments employ over 440 faculty members, 1,560 staff, and 384 residents and fellows, along with medical students from UF and other institutions. We offer extensive clinical training programs and pride ourselves on training top primary care providers and specialists regionally, statewide, and nationally.
Our college offers 38 accredited graduate medical education programs and 14 non-standard programs. Over 100 residents and fellows from across the U.S. participate in various clinical rotations. We also provide clinical rotations for UF students from Gainesville, with third-year students spending about 25% of their training in Jacksonville, gaining urban clinical experience. Elective rotations are available to students from accredited schools in the U.S. and Canada.
For practicing physicians, we offer a continuing medical education program featuring renowned national and international speakers. Our faculty, residents, and fellows actively engage in clinical research, with many presenting and publishing their work nationally. In 2019, the campus received $23.1 million in external research funding, half of which was federally sponsored.
The campus includes a 16,000-square-foot clinical and translational research facility, along with centers for Data Solutions and Research Training, supporting analytics, epidemiology, biostatistics, and the development of clinical researchers.
Jacksonville, located on the Atlantic Ocean, enjoys sunny weather with an average of 320 days of sunshine annually, and has the coolest summers in Florida. Known as the River City, it features numerous waterways, naval bases, nature preserves, lakes, wetlands, beaches, and the St. Johns River.
