Family Medicine Associate Program Director

Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine (WSU BSOM) and Premier Health are seeking a physician that is an experienced educator to serve as the Family Medicine Associate Program Director (APD) to lead and support the Family Medicine program. This role requires an innovative leader with a passion for education, clinical excellence, and the development of future family practice physicians. The Associate Program Director serves as a key educational leader, clinician, and mentor, fostering excellence in teaching, clinical practice, and professional development. The successful candidate will work closely with the Graduate Medical Education (GME) leadership and others to ensure the program’s success and alignment with Premier Health and WSU BSOM’s mission of providing exceptional patient care while advancing medical education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and assist the Program Director in the overall management and improvement of the residency program.
  • Ensure compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform ongoing clinical activity in a manner reflecting the highest quality of care and professionalism.
  • Lead efforts to recruit high-quality resident candidates, participating in interviews and selection.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that fosters resident growth, competency, and readiness for board certification.
  • Mentor and support medical students, residents, and faculty, encouraging professional development and a collaborative learning environment.
  • Monitor resident performance, providing feedback and support to ensure achievement of competency milestones.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
  • Serve as a liaison between the program, the medical community, and relevant stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive residency and fellowship education across specialties.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement and evaluation of the residency program.

Job Requirements
  • Education: M.D. or D.O. degree with board certification in Family Medicine.
  • Experience: Experience in medical education or administration, with proven leadership skills.
  • Licensure: Active medical license.
  • ACGME Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of ACGME standards and graduate medical education regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in research and academic medicine.
  • Previous leadership roles within residency or fellowship programs, such as Associate Program Director, Chair of Clinical Competency Committee, Chair of Quality Improvement Committee.
  • Advanced training in family medicine obstetrics, vaginal deliveries, and cesarean sections.
