Job summary

Bowling Green State University is seeking federal work study tutoring positions for elementary-aged children. Tutors will provide reading support and practice with strategies such as read-aloud, vocabulary, and sight-words, working under supervision with classroom teachers.

Tutors must be eligible for Federal Work Study and pass a BCI & FBI background check at the student's expense; continuation depends on America Reads evaluation results.

Qualifications

  • Must be Federal Work Study eligible.
  • BCI & FBI background check completed at student's expense.
  • America Reads evaluation completion required for continuation.
  • Tutor will work with teachers and site coordinators.

  • Tutors elementary-aged children.
  • Use reading aloud, vocabulary, and sight-words strategies.
  • Develop positive relationships to motivate learning.
  • Document services through reflection.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school personnel, and site coordinators.
  • Assist teachers with various duties when not working directly with children.

Job description

Providing a community service through tutoring elementary-aged children. Note this is a Federal Work Study position, so applicants need to be eligible for Federal Work Study to be hired for this position.
