Job summary

The YMCA is seeking a creative Family Life Coordinator for the Pelham Branch to supervise Childwatch and develop engaging family programs. This part-time role blends hands-on childcare with planning, prep, and event execution, offering a hands-on, community-focused position.

You will design monthly activity calendars, support onboarding of staff, coordinate supplies, and foster warm relationships with children, families, and volunteers while upholding YMCA safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and families preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to independently plan and follow through on activities and projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff while taking initiative when needed.
• Must meet YMCA requirements for working with children, including trainings and background screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision in Childwatch ~20 hours per week.
• Create and run a monthly Childwatch activity calendar.
• Prepare materials, decorate, and set the scene for holidays and themes.
• Plan, prep, set up, run, and clean up Family Life events.
• Develop and deliver youth enrichment programs.
• Support Childwatch staff with onboarding, coaching, trainings.
• Keep supplies organized and flag restocking needs.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, volunteers.

The YMCA is looking for a creative, organized, and dependable Family Life Coordinator to help make Childwatch and Family Life programming something kids and families genuinely look forward to. This is a hands-on role that blends direct childcare with the fun part - planning, prepping, and bringing engaging experiences to life.

What You'll Be Doing

• Work approximately 20 hours per week in Childwatch ratio, providing active supervision in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment
• Build and maintain a monthly Childwatch activity calendar filled with crafts, themed days, games, and seasonal fun - then make sure it actually happens
• Prepare materials, decorate, and set the scene for holidays, themes, and special activities
• Plan, prep, set up, run, and clean up Family Life and special events
• Help develop and deliver youth enrichment programs, including activities, lesson materials, and organized program spaces
• Support Childwatch staff through onboarding, coaching, and in-service trainings
• Keep supplies, storage, and program spaces organized, and flag restocking or purchasing needs
• Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and volunteers, and represent the Y's mission in every interaction

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience working with children and families preferred

• Dependable and able to balance direct childcare duties with planning and administrative work
• Must meet all YMCA requirements for working with children, including required trainings, certifications, and background screening

• Follow all YMCA Childwatch policies, procedures, safety standards, and staff-to-child ratios
• Communicate concerns, staffing needs, safety issues, or program challenges promptly to the Youth & Sports Director
• Model professionalism, teamwork, and excellent member service
• Stay flexible in supporting Childwatch, Family Life, enrichment programs, and other Youth Development initiatives as needs arise
• Attend required meetings and trainings
