Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools seeks a Family Learning Child Care Worker to support teen parent services at Longfellow High School. You will implement age‑appropriate activities, supervise children, and maintain program records while coordinating with school staff and parent communication.

You must have a high school diploma or GED (or an associate’s degree) with experience working with children, plus First Aid/CPR. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, 41 weeks, on-site at Longfellow.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED and 5 years of experience with children, or an Associate's degree with 2 years of experience with children.
• First Aid/CPR training is required. Additional health and safety training may be required.
• Applicants with an equivalent amount of experience/education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering age-appropriate curriculum in child care programs and support the social, emotional, and intellectual development of children of student parents.
• Create a safe, nurturing and educational environment; supervise children and facilitate positive parent-child interactions.
• Observe and report developmental progress, health, and well-being; help maintain safe learning environments.
• Support students in learning and recreational activities; reinforce positive behavior and proper English communication.
• Deliver classroom and recreational services; assist with attendance, assignments, and scheduling of events.
• Provide customer service to parents, support parenting skills, and explain school rules.
• Coordinate the work of assistants and volunteers; perform office duties and maintain records.
