Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is hiring a Part Time Minneapolis Kids Child Care Assistant for the 2026-2027 pool. Provide high quality school age childcare in a safe, nurturing, educational and recreational setting, helping children pursue interests and build confidence.

Citywide locations (Davis Center, Windom) with afternoon and morning shifts (3:00-6:00 pm; 6:30-9:30 am). Requires a High School Diploma/GED and one year of paid experience; First Aid/CPR within 12 months; ability to lift 30 pounds

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and one year of paid experience with children.
• First Aid/CPR training within twelve months of employment.
• May meet Minnesota licensing requirements for assistant teachers.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds in classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff to provide a safe, nurturing, educational and recreational experience for children.
• Support positive behavior, socialization and communication among students.
• Assist with attendance, clerical duties, and classroom setup.
• Maintain inventories of meals, snacks and supplies; keep rooms clean and ready.
• Provide customer service to parents/guardians and explain school rules.
