Job summary

Collabera is hiring a family law paralegal for a well-established and fast-growing law firm based in Somerville, NJ. The role supports attorneys from intake through settlement or trial, handling deadlines, filings, and discovery in family law matters.

You will draft pleadings and motions, prepare discovery requests, and communicate with clients. Strong organizational skills and clear written/verbal communication are essential to manage sensitive information across New York or New Jersey

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in family law.
• Familiarity with divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, and other family law matters.
• Experience handling family law matters in New York or New Jersey, with knowledge of the applicable jurisdiction's court procedures and filing requirements.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Case Management: Assist attorneys in managing family law cases from initial intake through settlement or trial, ensuring deadlines and court requirements are met.
• Document Preparation: Draft, format, and proofread pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, financial disclosures, and other legal documents.
• Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents through the appropriate electronic filing systems and ensure compliance with applicable court rules and deadlines.
• Discovery Coordination: Organize discovery materials, track outstanding requests, prepare document productions, and assist with compiling evidence for litigation.
• Client Communication: Communicate professionally with clients regarding case updates, document requests, scheduling, and administrative matters.
• Hearing & Trial Preparation: Organize case files, prepare exhibits and trial binders, coordinate witness information, and assist attorneys with hearing, mediation, and trial preparation.
