Job description

Family Law Paralegal – Remote or Hybrid (Washington State)

The Hemmat Law Group is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our growing team.

About Us

Founded in 1994, Hemmat Law Group represents clients in complex and high-conflict family law matters, including divorce, custody disputes, and high-asset cases. We provide clear, steady guidance to clients navigating difficult transitions and are known for strong advocacy paired with practical, compassionate counsel.

What It's Like to Work Here

Our paralegals are a critical part of our legal team and play a meaningful role in moving cases forward. This is a substantive paralegal position for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, managing competing priorities, and collaborating closely with attorneys and other legal professionals.

We value initiative, curiosity, and open communication. You will have independence in your work, along with the support of colleagues who are willing to answer questions, share context, and help when needed. No one is expected to figure everything out alone.

If you enjoy detailed legal work, genuinely care about clients, and want to be part of a team where your experience and ideas are valued, you will likely feel at home here.

Responsibilities
  • Support attorneys throughout all stages of Washington family law matters
  • Draft pleadings, declarations, correspondence, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and other legal documents
  • Prepare and organize materials for hearings, mediations, depositions, arbitrations, and trials
  • Manage discovery, including collecting, reviewing, organizing, and producing documents
  • Assist with financial disclosures and the review and organization of financial records
  • Maintain case calendars and track court dates, filing deadlines, discovery deadlines, and other time-sensitive matters
  • File documents electronically and coordinate service
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and other parties
  • Work closely with attorneys to identify next steps and ensure cases continue moving forward
  • Maintain organized and complete electronic client files
  • Record time accurately and meet the firm's annual billable-hour expectation
  • Respond appropriately to urgent or time-sensitive matters
  • Contribute ideas that improve workflows, organization, and the client experience
Qualifications
  • Previous family law paralegal experience in Washington family law
  • Familiarity with Washington court procedures and local rules, particularly in King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties
  • Strong legal drafting, proofreading, and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage a high volume of work and competing deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good judgment when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Comfortable communicating with clients during stressful or emotional situations
  • Able to work independently while remaining collaborative and responsive
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365
  • Experience with Clio or a similar legal practice-management system is preferred
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred
Compensation
  • Salary range: $70,000 to $110,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Eligible for the firm's performance-based bonus program
  • Supportive and friendly environment focused on professional development
  • 401(k) with a 100% employer match on contributions up to 6% of salary
  • 10 company holidays and a flexible time-off model
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Monthly transportation stipend
  • FSA and other tax-advantaged savings options
  • Annual professional-development support
  • Technology, resources, and administrative support
