Responsibilities

• Independently manage and strategically oversee 40+ active family law cases at various stages of litigation and resolution.
• Represent clients in a variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, and property division.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery requests/responses, and settlements.
• Represent clients at hearings, conferences, mediations, depositions, and trials.
• Maintain accurate and timely case files, deadlines, billing records, and documentation.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case developments, options, expectations, and next steps.
• Coordinate with opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, mediators, and other professionals.
• Apply Massachusetts family law statutes, rules, and case law to individual matters.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Family Law Attorney to join our legal team in Salem, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will have strong experience handling a broad range of family law matters and be comfortable independently managing a high-volume caseload of 40+ active cases.

This role requires an attorney who is organized, detail-oriented, client-focused, and confident representing clients in negotiations, hearings, and court proceedings. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cases from initial consultation through resolution while maintaining high standards of legal strategy, communication, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage and strategically oversee 40+ active family law cases at various stages of litigation and resolution.
• Represent clients in a variety of family law matters, including:
• Divorce and separation
• Child custody and parenting disputes
• Child support and alimony
• Property division
• Modification and enforcement matters
• Contempt proceedings
• Domestic relations and restraining-order related matters, as applicable
• Conduct client consultations, evaluate legal issues, and develop effective case strategies.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery requests/responses, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Represent clients at court hearings, conferences, mediations, depositions, and trials.
• Negotiate settlements and agreements while protecting clients' interests.
• Conduct legal research and apply Massachusetts family law statutes, rules, and case law to individual matters.
• Maintain accurate and timely case files, deadlines, billing records, and documentation.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case developments, legal options, expectations, and next steps.
• Coordinate with opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, mediators, and other professionals as necessary.
• Prioritize and manage a demanding caseload while meeting court deadlines and client expectations.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable ethical and professional responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active Massachusetts Bar admission and in good standing.
• 3+ years of experience practicing family law, preferably in Massachusetts.
