Job Summary

Start Date: Monday, June 16th, 2025

Training Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm CST

The role of the Family Health Advocate is an exciting and innovative remote position created to provide meaningful support to members and their families through personalized resource and referral facilitation, issue resolution, and healthcare navigation. Utilizing motivational interviewing and guided approaches, the advocate will support members in achieving health goals, reducing costs, and optimizing care quality.

Essential Job Functions

  • Answer inquiries from members via voice and chat regarding eligibility, benefits, open enrollment, claims issues, ID cards, grievances, appeals, utilization management, and provider search, focusing on healthcare cost and quality.
  • Support for spending accounts, pharmacy, disability, and incentives/rewards.
  • Assist with ordering durable medical equipment, community resource search, and member preferences management.
  • Coordinate issue resolution with providers, payers, or third parties for claims, grievances, utilization, pharmacy, and spending inquiries.
  • Provide proactive care guidance, including closing care gaps, benefits education, and preparing members for procedures.
  • Refer members to care management, clinical advocates, or third-party resources as needed.
  • Understand and communicate benefit packages, handle benefit and enrollment issues, and drive engagement in programs.

Specific Skills/Attributes

  • Excellent multi-channel communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication in voice and chat, with strong typing, grammar, and spelling skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-year healthcare/health sciences degree or equivalent experience, or previous roles such as Health Guide, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, etc.
  • Experience in customer service within healthcare settings and resolving high-level issues.
