Job Summary

Start Date: Monday, June 16th, 2025

Training Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm CST

  • The assigned shift could be at any time between 7:00 am - 7:00 pm CST after training.

The role of the Family Health Advocate is a remote position created to provide support to members and their families through resource facilitation, issue resolution, and healthcare navigation. Utilizing motivational interviewing and guided approaches, the advocate will support members in achieving health goals, reducing costs, and optimizing care quality.

Essential Job Functions

  • Answer inquiries from members via voice and chat regarding eligibility, benefits, claims, ID issues, grievances, utilization management, and more.
  • Support provider search, focusing on healthcare cost and quality, including medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Assist with spending accounts, pharmacy, disability, incentives, rewards, and durable medical equipment ordering.
  • Search for community resources and manage member preferences.
  • Coordinate issue resolution with providers, payers, or third parties for claims, grievances, utilization, pharmacy, and spending accounts.
  • Provide proactive care guidance, such as closing care gaps, benefits education, and preparing members for procedures.
  • Refer members to clinical advocates or third-party care management as needed.
  • Understand and communicate benefit design packages, engage with members, and explain plan benefits and enrollment issues.

Specific Skills/Attributes

  • Excellent multi-channel communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication in voice and chat, with strong typing, grammar, and spelling skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-year healthcare/health sciences degree or equivalent experience, or relevant positions such as health navigator, medical assistant, pharmacy technician, etc.
  • Experience in healthcare customer service and resolving high-level issues.
