Job Summary

Start Date: Monday, June 16th, 2025

Training Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm CST

The role of the Family Health Advocate is an exciting and innovative remote position created to provide meaningful support to members and their families through personalized resource and referral facilitation, issue resolution, and healthcare navigation. Utilizing motivational interviewing and guided approaches, the advocate will support members in achieving health goals, reducing costs, and optimizing quality care.

Essential Job Functions
  • Answer inquiries from members (via voice and chat) regarding eligibility, benefits, open enrollment, claims, ID cards, grievances/appeals, utilization management, and more.
  • Assist with provider search, focusing on healthcare cost and quality, and present provider options.
  • Support for spending accounts, pharmacy, disability, and other benefits.
  • Help with ordering DME, community resources, and member preferences management.
  • Coordinate issue resolution with providers, payers, or third parties for claims, grievances, utilization, pharmacy, and spending inquiries.
  • Provide proactive care guidance, including closing care gaps, benefits education, and preparing members for procedures.
  • Refer members to clinical advocates or third-party care management as needed.
  • Understand and communicate benefit packages, handle benefit and enrollment issues, and drive member engagement.
Specific Skills/Attributes
  • Excellent multi-channel communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication in voice and chat, with strong typing, grammar, and spelling skills.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-year healthcare/health sciences degree or equivalent experience, or relevant healthcare roles such as Health Guide, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, etc.
  • Experience in customer service within healthcare settings and resolving high-level issues.
