Job summary

Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative is seeking a Family Engagement Coordinator in Omaha to lead and supervise Family Engagement Specialists, strengthening family partnerships in the Early Head Start program.

You will coach staff, oversee training, and ensure services align with program standards while promoting a collaborative, strengths-based approach across education, health, and community partners.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred in related field.
  • NHSA Family Service Certification within one year.
  • Minimum four years of experience providing social work or related services to families and children.
  • Prior management/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance required.
  • Knowledge of Head Start regulations and family engagement practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and ongoing support to Family Engagement Specialists.
  • Conduct bi-monthly supervision meetings focused on case management practices, family engagement strategies, documentation, and professional growth.
  • Support onboarding, training, mentoring, and professional development of family engagement staff.
  • Provide FES coverage and caseload management during times of staff transition or leaves of absence.
  • Monitor workload, caseloads, service coordination, and completion of required documentation.
  • Promote a collaborative team culture focused on partnership, respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Support staff in developing authentic, trusting relationships and Family Partnership Agreements with families enrolled in Early Head Start.
  • Ensure family engagement practices are strengths-based and responsive to family culture, priorities, and goals.
  • Assist staff in identifying and addressing barriers that impact family well-being.
  • Ensure family engagement services are implemented in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, program policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor documentation, case notes, family records, referrals, and follow-up activities for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with education, health, mental health, disabilities, enrollment, and leadership teams to support comprehensive services for children and families.
  • Participate in team meetings and program initiatives.
  • Identify staff training needs and support development of training opportunities.
  • Stay current on Head Start regulations, early childhood best practices, and family support strategies.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
