Job summary

The Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking an assistant prosecutor to work in the Family Division of our office. The assistant prosecutor will be handling misdemeanor and felony delinquency cases as well as representing the Department of Health and Human Services in child protective proceedings.

The assistant prosecutor may also, depending on qualifications, be asked to handle adult criminal matters, both misdemeanor and felony, that are connected to the child protective proceedings.

Qualifications

• JD degree from an accredited law school.
• Michigan licensure to practice law either obtained or expected this calendar year.
• Experience in family court is preferred or a desire to work in family court.

Responsibilities

• Handle a large docket of juvenile delinquency cases, including related hearings and dispositions.
• Represent the Department of Health and Human Services in child protective proceedings.
• Collaborate with DHHS on motions, pleadings, and petitions.
