Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota (LSS) is seeking a Family Development Specialist for a part-time, at-home/community-based role across multiple SD communities. The position requires completing home studies for foster/adoptive homes and collaborating with SD DSS/CPS, with travel as needed.

Qualified candidates will hold a social work degree and licensure eligibility; licensure is preferred. A $300 sign-on bonus is available for external candidates, and mileage reimbursement is provided

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field is required.
• Licensure as Social Worker or Social Work Associate preferred; licensure process guidance provided by LSS.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating the process to become a foster or adoptive resource.
• Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families.
• Partner with families to complete the home study process and provide resources and support.
• Work collaboratively with South Dakota DSS/CPS as part of Licensing Team.
