Job summary

JFCS in Phoenix is seeking a Family Connections Consultant to support families identified by the Department of Child Safety (DCS) through the Family Connections program. You will provide home-based and community-based services, observe and report concerns, coordinate care, and promote positive parenting.

Ideal candidates bring familiarity with skill-building, knowledge of the child welfare system, and the ability to work some evenings or weekends, with strong documentation and transportation

Qualifications

• Familiarity with skill building, psycho-educational work, and motivational-interviewing.
• Working knowledge of the child welfare system.
• Knowledge of techniques to identify underlying needs and differentiate needs from services.
• Ability to adjust schedule to the needs of the client, including evenings/weekends.
• Ability to complete timely documentation of communications with families.

Responsibilities

• Provides home-based and community-based services to families referred by DCS in Maricopa & Pinal Counties.
• Observes children in the home weekly and reports suspected abuse/neglect to DCS.
• Provides direct service: outreach, assessment, service planning, tailored interventions, coordination of care.
• Conducts home visits 1–2 times per week, including evenings/weekends.
• Promotes positive parenting skills and referrals to other programs as needed.
• Communicates with DCS Specialists and external agencies regarding needs and progress.
• Guides families in obtaining resources (housing, counseling, Title XIX/XXI).
• Attends training provided by DCS to empower families and address needs.
