Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Lived experience raising a child with substance use, mental health, or co-occurring disorders preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of agency, partner, and community resources available to support youth and families receiving behavioral health services.

Responsibilities

• Promote family-centered care by encouraging active participation of family members in the youth's treatment process.
• Collaborate with treatment teams to ensure services are delivered using a strengths-based, family-focused approach.
• Provide peer support and guidance to families navigating behavioral health, substance use, and community service systems.
• Assist families in identifying, developing, and maintaining natural supports and protective factors that promote long-term success.
• Organize and facilitate parent education groups focused on family functioning, support strategies, and resource awareness.
• Connect families with appropriate community resources and referral services based on identified needs.
• Educate and empower families to advocate for family-centered services on behalf of their youth.
• Build collaborative relationships with agency partners and community organizations to support coordinated care.
• Support training opportunities for Family Support Specialists as assigned.
