Job summary

Craven County’s Child and Family Services Division is seeking a staff social worker to provide family-based services, assess safety, and support treatment planning for children involved with abuse, neglect, or dependency cases.

The role includes conducting CPS assessments, participating in on-call rotation, and coordinating with therapists, schools, and legal professionals to ensure child safety and permanency.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work with 1 year experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work with 2 years experience.
• Master’s degree in counseling field with 2 years experience.
• Four-year degree in a human services field with 3 years experience.
• G.S. 153A-94.2(b) background check; valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive safety and risk assessments of families.
• Conduct child protective services assessments and in-home services.
• Coordinate with therapists, doctors, schools, and attorneys.
• Attend case staffing and division meetings; participate in disaster relief.
