Job summary

Guilford County Government is seeking skilled Child Protective Services Social Workers to deliver social work services to individuals identified as victims or potential victims of abuse, neglect, or dependency under North Carolina law.

The role requires advanced casework, rapid crisis assessment, and collaboration with families and multiple partners to ensure safety and appropriate placement of children.

Qualifications

• Requires MSW or equivalent in social work and licensure or eligibility for North Carolina child welfare practice.
• Experience in child welfare, foster care, and adoption processes is preferred.
• Ability to conduct thorough family assessments, safety planning and collaboration with partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect casework for children and adults in protective services.
• Respond promptly to crises and assess safety, needs and risk levels.
• Recruit and train foster/adoptive families; oversee licensing and placement.
• Coordinate with courts, law enforcement, medical and mental health professionals.
• Maintain accurate documentation and case records for compliance.
• Assist families to achieve safe, permanent or temporary homes.
