Jefferson County Schools is seeking a Family and Consumer Science Teacher for secondary grades. The teacher will plan and deliver instruction aligned with WV standards, using effective strategies to reach diverse learners and maintaining safe, respectful classrooms.
Responsibilities include lesson planning, progress reporting, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with parents and staff. A valid WV teaching certificate is required, with 200–215 instructional days per year.

POSITION: Secondary (Family and Consumer Science) Teacher
JOB SUMMARY: Provides appropriate instruction, learning activities, and experiences that ensure all students meet the learning objectives and standards for the appropriate content and grade level.

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and university. Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels of the assigned endorsement area, pursuant to WV Code §1BA-3-2; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-1Sc and/or §1BA-3-10, as appropriate; Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-3-2a.

Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; content knowledge skills at a high school or middle school (based on grade level assignment) proficiency level; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress and maintain emotional control. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.
A successful work history and a minimum of three supervisory references required for consideration.
