Job summary

Western Pennsylvania Conservancy's Fallingwater Institute is seeking a full-time Program Manager to coordinate on-site education programs, residencies, workshops, and the artist/scholar-in-residence program at Fallingwater and High Meadow.

You will supervise staff and instructors, manage registrations, tours, and meals, and collaborate with contractors while maintaining program calendars and alumni records. This is a demanding, rewarding role with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in museum education or closely related field; 7+ years in studio art education.
• Experience with studio art-making materials and processes.
• Strong writing, speaking, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate on-site Fallingwater Institute programs and manage daily operations.
• Act as on-duty point person during programs, supervising staff and students after hours.
• Guide contractors who work as residency instructors and house parents.
• Handle program calendars, registrations, tours, meals and materials.
• Manage Cheteyan Studio at High Meadow including inventory and purchases.
• Serve as contact for students, parents and contract staff during sessions.
• Lead guided tours of Fallingwater when needed.

Fallingwater, a property entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy,designatedas a National HistoricLandmarkand inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is seekingafull-timeFallingwater Institute Program Manager.

Under the general direction of the Senior Director and Curator of Education, the Fallingwater Institute Program Manager’s responsibilities comprise the coordination of Fallingwater Institute’s on-site, studio-based education programs, which include High School Residencies, College Residencies, workshops and residencies for adult professionals, and the artist/scholar-in-residence program. The Fallingwater Institute Program Managermaintainsthe studio at High Meadow. They are also responsible for collaboration with and supervision of contractors who are working as instructors and house parents.

Job Duties

• Supportsthe Senior Director and Curator of Education in the development and daily management of on-site Fallingwater Institute education programs.
• Servesason-dutypoint person when Fallingwater Institute programs are in session, including supervision of staff and students during after-hoursmuseum access.
• WiththeSenior Director and Curator ofEducation,provides guidance andassistanceto contractors who work as residency instructors and house parents, as needed.
• Completesadministrative duties related to Fallingwater Institute programs, such as serving as the primary contact for participating students/parents; maintains program calendar/schedule to make sure details are communicated to staff and participants; coordinates tours, meals, and materials for FI education programs, and makes travel arrangements for visiting instructors, artists, and scholars.
• Coordinatesregistration and admissions processes for all Fallingwater Institute programs by collaborating with Visitor Services Department and communicating with program participants before and after education programs. Activelymaintainsprogram rosters on an on-going basis.
• ManagestheCheteyanStudio at High Meadow, which includes a fully equipped woodshop and flexible art studio space. Maintains supply inventory andpurchasing, based on instructors’ supply request. Ensuresappropriate useof materials and equipment by all program participants during programs, and oversees prep/clean-up of studio spaces, materials, and equipment. Ensures that studio supplies are replenished between education programs, as needed.
• Servesas point of contact for students, parents, and contract staff such as instructors and house parents while programs arein-session.
• Leadsguided tours of Fallingwater as needed, especially during spring and fall seasons.
• AttendsEducationDepartmentprofessional development training sessions and completes enrichment assignments.
• Promotesan effective system of communication, including e-mail and the intranet, throughout the education program.Checksthe Fallingwater Institute email account regularly, with responses sentin a timely manner, to ensure thebest incustomer service for our program participants.
• Supportsthe Conservancy’s mission, cost containment and fundraising efforts and needs, as applicable.
• Ensurescompliance with Conservancy’s policies and procedures.
• MaintainsFallingwater Institute alumni records.
• Worksindependently and collaboratively withall ofthe above responsibilities.
• Contributes to other education programs such as public tour, school programs, and outreach programs as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree – preferably in museum education, art/design education, studio art/architecture/design, art or architecture history, museum studies or closely related field of study, and/or seven or more years professional experience working in studio art-based education, museumeducationor informal education.
• Knowledge of and experience with studio art-making materials and processes.
• Excellent writing, speaking, organizational, project management, and interpersonal communication skills, including K-12 classroom management skills.
• Customer service skills and experience working directly with customers.
• Ability to craft and implement educational programs for children through adults, including age/ developmentallyappropriate curriculum.
• Experience with educational program assessment and evaluation.
• Able to develop and manage complex projects and adhere to budgets
• Able to work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Creative problem-solving skills.
• Computer literacy, particularly in word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, Zoom and/or Teams, web-based software for creating and managing forms.
• Musthave a valid driver’s license.
• Ability towork days, evenings, weekends and holidays and flexibility with schedule and hours isrequired.
• To be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or withouta reasonableaccommodation.
