Job summary

FOX44/WFFF-TV & ABC22/WVNY-TV in Colchester, Vermont offer a fall paid internship through NYSBA. Interns gain hands-on newsroom experience, working with producers, anchors and reporters both in-house and in the field.

The internship provides opportunities to learn camera operations, field coordination and possible directing/producing tasks. Pay is $15.50 per hour with supervision and safety expectations, for a 2–4 day/week schedule totaling up to 180 hours.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 17 years of age
• Must be a resident of New York State and/or attend a school in New York State
• Gain hands-on experience in a newsroom environment
• Work with producers, anchors and reporters as part of internship

Responsibilities

• Research and write stories for the news department
• Assist in field production and coordinating interviews
• Shadow producers in the control room and pursue opportunities to produce portions of the show
• Help with directing and producing tasks as opportunities arise
• Develop a reel for on-air opportunities
