Job description

TheGrounds Crewwill report to the Landscape/Rental Manager and powered equipment, hand held tools and drive utility carts to landscape resort property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Welcome resort guests with a smile and the “I promise to CARE!” attitude during Fall Fest event.
  • Use resort maps and Fall Fest schedules to provide guests with information on: location of amenities/vendors, times of events/activities, pricing and merchandise. If asked a question and unsure of the answer – find someone who can help!
  • Work in a team environment to perform tasks as instructed by the Landscape Manager or Supervisor, including: event decorating, assembling/maintaining/emptying disposable trash bins and laying wood chips in high traffic areas during Fall Fest.
  • Collaborate with Landscaping team and other resort departments to run requested materials to various locations, such as: vendors, restaurant outlets, food tents, hotel or restrooms.
  • Gather and remove litter or other debris to ensure a visually pleasing experience for resort guests.
  • Operate utility carts and powered equipment, such as: mowers, gas powered trimmers, electric clippers, leaf blowers and pruning saws to install and maintain resort landscape features.
  • Care for lawns, flower bed and other exterior resort features by performing the following (as applicable): mowing, mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch and trimming/edging.
  • Provide proper upkeep of building exteriors, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters and other grounds features.
  • Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
  • Efficiently complete manual tasks such as raking, digging and loading / unloading of landscaping materials from buildings and utility carts.
  • Perform constant inspections of resort features to ensure all are landscaped in accordance with departmental operating policies and procedures. Report safety concerns or irregularities to management / supervisor immediately.
  • Collaborate with Landscape Manager and team to ensure equipment and vehicles are performing optimally, including routine cleaning.
  • Report to information tent or other designated work location on time for scheduled shift and in appropriate uniform / nametag.
  • Abide by department / resort / company policies, procedures and safety rules at all times.
  • All other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School or GED equivalent required; vocational school training preferred.
  • Prior work as a general landscaper preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Landscape workers must be at least 18 years of age to operate equipment required with moving parts.
  • Routine exposure to hot and inclement weather and outdoor elements (sun, rain, dust etc.) for extended periods of time.
  • Constant walking and / or riding through resort, including frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling or balancing.
  • Manual dexterity – ability to move hand, hand together with arm and use both hands to quickly grasp or manipulate equipment.
  • Must regularly traverse or maneuver items up to 80 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays required and willingness to flex up or down in scheduled work hours (based on business need).
