Job summary

Elinor Coatings in Fargo, ND offers an internship to support laboratory operations, assist with materials testing, environmental exposure studies, equipment operation, data analysis, and reporting while gaining industry experience in quality, safety, and technical operations.

Qualifications

• College student (Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate)
• Major in field of science or engineering
• Two semesters of chemistry lab experience preferred
• Oral and written communication skills to enable working with multi-disciplinary groups of individuals with diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities

• Support materials testing and data analysis for laboratory projects
• Assist with sample preparation, testing, and equipment operation
• Help maintain, calibrate, and document laboratory equipment and procedures
• Collect, organize, and analyze test data to support reports and research
• Participate in meetings and assist with field testing if needed

Primary Responsibilities

Support laboratory operations by assisting with materials testing, environmental exposure studies, equipment operation, data analysis, and technical reporting while gaining experience in industry best practices in quality, safety, and technical operations.

• Gain hands‑on experience with laboratory equipment, testing methods, and quality management systems


• Assist with sample preparation and testing


• Support the operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment while learning proper testing techniques


• Collect, organize, and analyze test data based on industry specifications to support technical reports and research projects

Understand data management and research reporting:

• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data acquisition, documentation, and data entry


• Become familiar with database handling and report generating

Learn and use basic safety, skills and operating procedures in a laboratory setting:

• Maintain safe and clean workspaces consistent with environmental regulations and best practices


• Follow lab standard operating procedures


• Practice good chemical hygiene


• Follow proper cybersecurity protocols and data protection protocols

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participate in meetings and reports when appropriate


• Assist with field testing if needed


• Other duties as assigned
