The PTCU collaborates with cardiac-thoracic, hepatobiliary, and head and neck surgical teams, as well as managing high-risk respiratory patients such as CHF, COPD, PNA, and Pulmonary HTN. If you are eager to develop a wide range of nursing skills, we are the place for you!

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients according to physician orders, established guidelines, and within the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act. The American Nurses Association (ANA) defines nursing as: 'The protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations.' The scope of practice for registered nurses varies based on education, experience, role, and the population served (ANA, Scope and Standards of Practice, 2015). At Northside Hospital, nursing practice aligns with ANA's standards, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, communication, ethics, collaboration, community involvement, professional development, and evidence-based practice.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES / LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as an RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  2. Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES / LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. BSN degree preferred.
  2. Additional life support certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications are a plus.
  3. Visual color acuity may be required depending on the specific role and unit.
