Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA is looking for a Propulsion Engineer for Falcon Flight Operations. The role focuses on ensuring flightworthiness of Merlin and Stage propulsion hardware across build, test, and flight to support rapid reusability and high mission success.

You will develop a deep understanding of Falcon propulsion systems, define requirements, and collaborate across teams to drive reliability and address flight risks. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 1+ years of experience with engines or fluid systems.
• Preference for Master’s degree in mechanical/aero/astronautical engineering.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of Falcon propulsion systems.
• Make critical decisions for Merlin and Stage propulsion hardware during build, test, and flight.
• Define and validate requirements to promote reliability and reusability.
• Lead propulsion anomaly investigations and drive to resolution.
• Support test and launch operations across SpaceX facilities, including mission control.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce technical debt and improve reliability.
