Job summary

Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MO is seeking a part-time Faith Formation Assistant to support parish programs for children, youth, and adults and assist with administrative tasks.

This role reports to the Faith Formation Director, works up to 10 hours per week, and involves class prep, registration, and youth activity supervision while upholding Catholic teachings and confidentiality. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Some college or relevant training preferred.
• Experience in parish ministry or youth programs helpful.
• Knowledge of Catholic doctrine and pastoral practices.
• Familiarity with Catholic parish operations preferred.
• Commitment to the values and mission of the Catholic Church.

Faith Formation Assistant

Part Time, Non-Exempt

Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MO has an immediate opening for a part-time Faith Formation Assistant. This position provides administrative and instructional support for parish faith formation programs and activities. It also assists with the coordination of parish faith formation programs for children, youth, and adults. This position reports to the Faith Formation Director and will be a part-time position up to 10 hours per week.

Essential Duties

• Assist with class preparation, registration, and communication
• Lead Middle School and High School Youth groups
• Serve as a school of faith teacher
• Oversee and guide youth mission trips
• Oversee and supervise youth students at youth conferences
• Supports catechists and volunteers in implementing programs
• Teach or assist in small group faith activities
• Maintains records and assists with events

Knowledge and Critical Skills Required

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organized and detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Maintain confidentiality in all matters
• Professional judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence in handling sensitive pastoral matters
• Ability to work with Microsoft Office products – primarily Outlook, Word, Excel
