Job summary

St. Augustine Preparatory Academy seeks a School Security Officer for its Aug Prep South Campus. This full-time, 10-month role ensures a safe environment for staff and students, reporting to the Director of Security and Student Safety.

Schedule is 7:00 am to 4:00 pm; location Aug Prep South Campus; start date ASAP. Candidates should have knowledge of security procedures, a high school diploma, and experience in security or school settings; bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in security and/or in a school setting preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Completion of college-level courses in security, teacher assistant, or criminal justice is preferred.
• Proficient with Google software.

Responsibilities

• Support the school’s educational mission for all students and implement school regulations and policies fairly and equitably.
• Patrol and monitor assigned areas of the school buildings, grounds, and parking lots to keep our students and staff safe at all times.
• Ability to positively work with students and de-escalate difficult situations.
• Detects, investigates, and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities.
• Assists administrators and staff in crisis and emergency situations.
• Supervises and directs student transitions through the hallways.
• Notifies the Head of Security of emergency situations.
• Investigate student violations as needed and prepare reports of the results.
• Assists with fire drills and other emergency drills.
• Attends and successfully completes all staff development training as required by state law or by the Head of Security.
• Reads and responds to email communications.
• M maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information as is expected of classroom teachers.
