Job summary

OurCommunity Ferris is seeking a Food Manager to lead all aspects of food services for Residents, starting in a temporary kitchen and scaling to a commercial facility. You will source, prepare, store, and serve meals, manage inventory, and supervise kitchen staff and volunteers, all while building relationships rooted in faith.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the Volunteer Site Coordinator, ensuring high‑quality meals, safety, and timely delivery in a faith‑based environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 1–3 years relevant kitchen management experience, or high school with 5 years experience.
• Experience running high‑volume kitchen in commercial or institutional setting.
• Current Texas Food Manager’s Certification.
• Legal right to work in the USA.

Responsibilities

• Forecast, plan, and organize meals on a weekly basis.
• Lead kitchen staff and volunteers when available.
• Supervise and hands‑on execution of food prep and cooking.
• Oversee volunteers in food service areas.
• Manage inventory and weekly inventory assessments.
• Procure materials, supplies, and ingredients based on inventory.
• Coordinate meal service timing and delivery with ministry staff.
• Ensure health and safety compliance for food storage and handling.
• Maintain budget and report equipment issues to Director.
