Job summary

Bethany Christian Services seeks a Family Support Specialist to support families in their homes and communities, conducting regular visits, assessing needs, and guiding families toward goals while upholding our faith-based mission.

You will document visits, support transitions, strengthen parenting and child development, and ensure compliance with agency and state requirements. Strong communication and cultural sensitivity are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work or related field.
• At least two years of experience working with or providing services to children and families.
• Ability to establish trusting relationships and respect diverse family structures and parenting practices.
• Experience with culturally diverse families.
• Knowledge of infant and child development; infant mental health endorsement preferred.
• Willing to engage in reflective capacity and supervision.
• Proven engagement and confidentiality in sensitive settings.
• Must pass criminal history screen and MVR as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain regular, long-term contact with families, primarily through home visits.
• Document home visits, screenings, assessments, and referrals.
• Support families through transitions and challenges affecting participation.
• Promote nurturing, responsive, and developmentally appropriate parenting.
• Stay compliant with agency, state, and federal requirements; participate in events as needed.
