Job summary

Bethany Christian Services is seeking a Family Resource Specialist to support families through the Healthy Families program. You will complete assessments, build referrals, and educate partners on available services, while maintaining strong engagement with diverse families.

The role emphasizes confidential, respectful, strength-based interactions and alignment with agency and regulatory requirements. Flexible hours including some evenings/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
• At least two years of experience working with children and families.
• Ability to build trusting relationships and accept individual differences.
• Experience working with culturally diverse families.
• Knowledge of child development; infant mental health endorsement preferred if available in state.
• Willingness to engage in reflective capacity and supervision.
• Strong engagement skills and effective communication.
• Understanding of the strength-based approach and interventions.
• Ability to work independently with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Complete the FROG Scale with families to identify strengths and address needs.
• Develop and maintain referral sources to support program enrollment.
• Educate community partners about Healthy Families services, eligibility, and referrals.
• Receive referrals and respond per program procedures.
• Initiate timely contact with referred families and engage in family-centered outreach.
• Ensure assessments align with HFA and Healthy Families Indiana requirements.
• Provide referrals to community-based services as needed.
• Assist families in navigating barriers to needed services.
• Keep knowledge current on community resources for children and families.
• Complete all required assessments and documentation on time.
• Stay updated on agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
• Participate in Bethany-sponsored events.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
