Job summary

Hope Ministries in Des Moines, IA seeks a Resident Advocate for the Men’s Ministry to support residents through spiritual mentoring, life-skills instruction, and Biblically-based counseling. The role emphasizes developing individualized case plans, facilitating referrals, and maintaining accurate documentation while ensuring safety and program adherence.

You will work within a team-oriented, faith-centered program, coordinating with the Director of Men’s Ministry and other staff to help

Qualifications

• Able to apply Biblical principles to real-life situations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate diverse groups and work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual growth, mentoring, Scripture sharing, and prayer with participants.
• Build rapport with clients.
• Conduct life skills and spiritual classes or chapel as assigned.
• Provide biblically based counsel.
• Assist team with safety, supplies, and intakes.
• Conduct residents drug testing through urine analysis.
• Other duties as assigned by the Case Management Supervisor or Director of Men's Ministry to support program delivery.
• Advocate for clients to remove barriers to independent living and document meetings.
• Help clients set goals and exit plans across spiritual, physical, emotional, relational, educational, and vocational needs.
• Assist clients in completing required forms and gathering documentation.
• Meet regularly with clients to track goals and progress.
• Hold clients accountable to program requirements.
• Assess progress and readiness to move to next phase.
• Make appropriate referrals to community services and agencies for housing, health, employment, etc., and network to build relationships in these areas.
