Job summary

Bryan College invites applications for a full-time English faculty position in Dayton, TN. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester (12 credit hours) and may focus on British, American, World literature, literary theory/criticism, or composition, integrating faith and learning in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Literature or comparable terminal degree preferred; outstanding candidates with a Masters degree may be considered.
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching the courses assigned.
• Ability to create a syllabus and effectively deliver the learning objectives of the course.
• Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
• Ability to learn relevant sections of BrightSpace, Bryan College’s online learning management system.
• Ability to effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
• Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Teach a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and provide timely feedback and grades to students
• Prepare course plans and materials
• Serve students through advising and other college-related events
• Keep weekly office hours to support student success and to personalize instruction
• Other duties as assigned by department Chair or academic Dean
