Job summary

Job Description

The Fair Lending Investigator is responsible to develop, manage, and conduct enterprise and business unit risk assessments with a UDAPP and minority lending focus. The Fair Lending Investigator is also responsible to consult with business units to help maintain appropriate regulatory risk assessment procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Analyze UDAAP compliance risks and fair lending compliance risks
  • Determine appropriate controls to mitigate UDAAP risks, and to mitigate fair lending risks
  • Develop risk assessments to meet strategic goals of Northwest and business units, and relationships with business units compliance staff
  • Prepare strategy with business unit to develop and maintain appropriate compliance controls
  • Manage business units' risk assessments to assure appropriate compliance testing and monitoring
  • Maintain "culture of compliance" with business unit
  • Prepare reports for compliance management staff that monitor Northwest's current level of regulatory compliance performance, and analyze monitoring reports regarding Northwest's regulatory compliance requirements
  • Assist compliance management in preparing for regulatory compliance performance examinations with regulators
  • Identify training weaknesses in our staff's regulatory compliance knowledge
  • Perform the monitoring requirements of Northwest's annual compliance program
  • Oversee business unit compliance staff's risk assessments
  • Consult with business unit to improve compliance management
  • Interpret regulatory laws to identify gaps in Northwest's or affiliates' compliance management processes or procedures
  • Manage business units' compliance risk assessments
  • Ensure document and data integrity, and compliance within subsidiaries and affiliates
  • Prepare management reports
  • Develop tools and processes that enhance compliance efficiency
  • Identify and resolve compliance issues
  • Communicate regulatory risk to Chief Compliance/Fair Banking Officer, Fair and Responsible Banking Officer and Fair Lending Manager, and to business unit's compliance staff
  • Maintain a high level of regulatory compliance expertise
  • Promptly answer questions and provide guidance to business unit
  • Perform monitoring reports on schedule
  • Identify issues that require further analysis
  • Present relevant findings to Chief Compliance/Fair Banking Officer, Fair and Responsible Banking Officer and Fair Lending Manager, and final report to business unit manager
  • Follow-up on corrective issues
  • Analyze business units' risk assessments for accuracy
  • Appraise adequacy of corrective actions
  • Summarize results and findings
  • Prepare monitoring reports
  • Maintain work papers and samples
  • Research and improve report data
  • Recommend improvements to procedures
  • Maximize technology tools available and benefits to Northwest
  • Minimize departmental non-payroll costs and risk
Additional Essential Functions
  • Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations
  • Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency

Education

Bachelor's Degree in business management preferred or equivalent on the job training

3 - 5 years associated compliance business related experience

Licenses and Certifications

CRCM certification or professional equivalent.

Additional Licenses And Certifications

If an individual has 3+ years of experience within a compliance role within the Company when being placed in this position, he or she will have 3 months to acquire their CRCM certification.

New hires or individuals with less than 3 years of experience will have up to 39 months within a compliance role within the Company to acquire their CRCM certification.
