Job summary

Pinal County is seeking a Civil Hearing Officer to preside over civil code compliance cases across Building Safety, Zoning, Animal Control and Housing. The role conducts public hearings, informs defendants of rights, and enforces schedules and payments in accordance with Arizona statutes and county codes.

The successful candidate will render fair, impartial decisions, maintain strict confidentiality, and perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Resident of Pinal County
• At least 18 years of age
• Be of good moral character
• Demonstrate the ability to be fair and objective
• Arizona residents must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.
• Be familiar with rules of civil procedure for the hearing and determination of civil violations

Responsibilities

• Conducts public hearings on violations of County Ordinances.
• Advises defendants of their rights and obligations; arranges payment schedules and collects monies.
• Makes fair and impartial decisions on assigned cases, according to Arizona Statutes for Zoning Ordinance, Building Code Ordinance, Sanitary Code, Pinal County Fire Code, and any other Arizona Statute and County Code/Ordinance authorizing the Pinal County Hearing Officer to hear civil violations.
• Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records and restricted County information; performs related duties as required or assigned.
