Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Fair Housing Director within the Department of Professional & Occupational Regulation (DPOR). The role leads the Virginia Fair Housing Office (VFHO), guiding investigations, conciliation, and training to enforce and promote fair housing laws at the state level.

The position requires deep knowledge of federal and Virginia fair housing laws, strong leadership, and excellent communication.

Job Duties

The mission of the Virginia Fair Housing Office (VFHO) is to increase awareness of and compliance with the law by conducting effective and efficient investigations; by attempting to resolve complaints through conciliation agreements; by providing training and partnering with public and private organizations to promote Fair Housing; and by filing complaints against non-complying persons and entities.

The Fair Housing Director is responsible for managing and leading the efforts of the VFHO and ensuring that the agency’s mission and philosophies are carried out.

Minimum Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of Federal and Virginia Fair Housing laws;
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex rules, regulations, and laws;
• Excellent managerial and leadership skills
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
• Expert knowledge of law enforcement principles and investigative techniques

• Proven ability to accurately read, interpret, and analyze data
