Position Announcement

The School of Education at Utah Valley University invites applications for a full-time tenure-trackfaculty position in Physical Education TeacherEducation in the Secondary and Special EducationDepartment. The successful candidate will have ademonstrated knowledge of physical education teacher educationprinciples and practices, as well as relevant K-12 teachingexperience. This individual will teach undergraduate courses inphysical education teacher education and related aspects of programmanagement. UVU's School of Education maintains a robust,high-quality PETE program. The position will begin on August 1st,2027.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Teach professional-level courses. Prepare instructionalmaterials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, etc.) as necessary.Maintain a student-centered approach to education. Improveprofessionally and maintain currency in the coursestaught.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and current reports and recordsinvolving student accountability and performance. Conference withstudents regarding coursework, field work, and academic endeavors.Engages with partner school district teachers and administrators inclinical teacher preparation as well as in supervision of studentsin field placements.
  • Lead the Physical Education Teacher Education Program,including course scheduling and staffing, clinical experiencecoordination, and recruitment of students.
  • Participate in scholarly activities, cutting-edge research, andcreative projects.
  • Provide service to the school, university, and community.Develop positive relationships with colleagues, public schoolteachers, administration, and other education stakeholders.Participate in the school accreditation process. Serve oncommittees and attend faculty and other meetings asassigned.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctoraldegree in education or in a closely-related field (or ABD withdissertation defense scheduled; degree must be in hand by positionstart date).
  • At least two years of relevant K-12 learner-centered teachingexperience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two years of college/university teachingexperience.
  • Earned relevant professional license or credentials.
  • Evidence of scholarly pursuits and potential.
  • K-12 teaching and leadership experience (e.g., instructionalcoach, team leader, district coordinator/specialist, PLCfacilitator).
  • Experience supporting preservice teachers in a capstone projectand/or student teaching supervision.
