Join us at the forefront of a new program at Utah Valley University (UVU)! We're thrilled to begin work seeking accreditation from CAPTE for a new Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. We are actively seeking a tenure-track faculty member. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping and cultivating this program, establishing a tradition of excellence in educating PTA students at our institution.

UVU is the largest public university in Utah with over 43,000 students, offering a wide range of degrees from certificates to master’s degrees. The College of Health and Public Service (CHPS) prepares competent professionals who serve our community, emphasizing both academic learning and practical skill development.

Faculty are expected to uphold ethical and professional standards and maintain an active presence in the department and during office hours.

Position Details:
  • Three-semester (year-round) tenure-track faculty position.
  • Teaching workload: 10-12 credits per semester.
  • Primarily face-to-face teaching, with potential online, hybrid, and live stream modalities.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Position Overview:

The PTA Faculty member will develop and teach undergraduate courses in the PTA program, with special consideration given to applicants with expertise in neurologic rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, pathology, and modalities.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, monitor, and refine specific curriculum areas.
  • Teach PTA courses under the direction of the program director, department chair, and dean.
  • Prepare instructional materials following an approved course of study.
  • Assist in program recruitment, advertising, and student selection.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
  • Contribute to the accreditation process through assessment and development.
  • Maintain office hours and provide student advising.
  • Engage in professional growth activities such as research, publications, and professional association involvement.
  • Serve on committees and attend meetings as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time, post-licensure clinical practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Higher education teaching experience.
  • Evidence of scholarly research.
Licenses or Certifications:
  • Current Utah license to practice as a Physical Therapist or PTA.
