Job summary

University of Pittsburgh is recruiting an outstanding translational science faculty member to serve as Associate Director of the Cancer Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics Facility (CPPF) within the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. The role targets full-time Research Assistant Professor or Research Associate Professor non-tenure, based in Pittsburgh.

Successful candidates will hold a PharmD or PhD in pharmacology or related field with 2+ years post-doctoral or translational drug development

Job description

The Department of Medicine- The Division of Malignant Hematology/Medical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh is recruiting an outstanding translational science faculty working in the field of Cancer Research at the level of full time Research Assistant Professor, non-tenure level or full time Research Associate Professor, non-tenure, to join and serve as the Associate Director of the Cancer Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics Facility (CPPF) within the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at the University of Pittsburgh.

Successful candidates will have a PharmD or PhD in pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field and exhibit promise of excellence in research. Candidates should have a minimum of two years of post-doctoral or a minimum of two years of experience in translational drug development and pharmacology, pharmacokinetic, and pharmacodynamic studies. Prior experience with translational drug development and pharmacology studies of anticancer agents is preferred but not required. Candidates will join as faculty positions that are commensurate with prior training and experience.

As the Associate Director of the CPPF, this position will assist with the overall management, productivity, and strategic plan as well as lead and/or assist with preclinical and clinical analytical, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and pharmacometrics studies The incumbent would be expected to lead and/or assist with writing grants, proposal, contracts, protocols, reports, and publications as well as facilitate and support collaborative projects with internal (e.g., UPMC HCC, University of Pittsburgh) and external (e.g., NIH, FDA, pharmaceutical companies) investigators.

Research Assistant Professor candidates shall have demonstrated substantial experience in advanced study and research, published five or more articles in peer reviewed journals and will have made research presentations at scientific meetings. The Research Assistant Professor candidate should display an active interest in advancing their career by attending local and national scientific meetings. The incumbent will serve as an important member of a principal investigator's research group by providing intellectual input into the research and design process. Research Assistant Professor candidates are encouraged to apply for both internal and external sources of research funding that complement the research group's portfolio and assist in the preparation of manuscripts, review articles, book chapters, and grant proposals.

Research Associate Professor candidates shall have demonstrated excellence in research with consistent themes and goals and a record of scholarly original publications in peer reviewed journals, typically 15 or more (however the actual number may range widely based upon significance, quality, and type of article). Status as first or senior author is not required. Preferred candidates will have a record of research presentations at scientific meetings, authorship of reviews, chapters, and/or book chapters, and served in a supportive and collaborative role in obtaining funding, including intellectual contribution The incumbent should have a local, regional and developing national reputation evidenced by letters, invited lectures, membership in professional societies, service on editorial boards or as a manuscript or grant reviewer.
