The University of Pittsburgh seeks a full-time Research Assistant Professor in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. This role focuses on advancing research, mentoring students, and contributing to teaching efforts. Ideal candidates should possess a PhD or MD and a strong background in relevant research areas.
The Department of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology in the School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh is recruiting a full-time faculty member in the non-tenure stream at the rank of Research Assistant Professor. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD, MD, or DVM with post-doctoral training in areas related to infectious diseases and microbiology. Research areas involving Emerging or Re-emerging Arboviral Diseases, B-cell memory and antibody responses, and the mechanism of immunity and pathogenesis. Evidence of collaboration and success in these and related areas is required. Demonstrated evidence of scholarly productivity and independent investigator status is required. The academic responsibilities of this position include conducting cutting-edge externally funded research to advance the understanding and control of infectious diseases, mentoring and advising students, teaching in the department's master's and doctoral programs, and training our students in research, practice, and scientific methods. The salary will be commensurate with background and experience. The successful candidate should demonstrate teaching ability, experience in advanced study and research, or professional experience of a kind that would enable them to make an academic contribution. They should exhibit promise of originality and excellence in some field of scholarship and should demonstrate ability in guiding and counseling students.
