Job Details

The Jefferson College of Nursing is seeking a full-time faculty member for its DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program (NAP). This position is responsible for teaching anesthesia-specific content and course management of designated coursework in the plan of study. All teaching should incorporate evidence-based practice principles into content taught. The role requires demonstrated knowledge, competence, and experience in the nurse anesthesia specialty for at least three years of providing direct patient care as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). Experience as a didactic instructor is preferred. The role requires excellent organizational, written, and oral interpersonal communication skills.

In collaboration with the Program Director of the DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program, this faculty member will be responsible for:

  1. Providing in-person classroom instruction
  2. Providing course management
  3. Developing and/or revising course content as needed to remain current
  4. Video recording lecture content for future use
  5. Holding office hours
  6. Planning and participating in simulation and skills lab
  7. Participating in the admissions process for the nurse anesthesia program
  8. Providing guidance for student DNP projects
  9. Developing and maintaining clinical sites
  10. Assisting with curriculum development
  11. Providing classroom and clinical instruction, counseling to students involved in clinical incidents, and developing appropriate remediation plans
  12. Assisting the Program Director in obtaining and maintaining accreditation by the Council on Accreditation for Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA)
  13. Maintaining student records in accordance with the COA and NBCRNA
  14. Interacting with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Enterprise

Job Description

  1. Earned doctoral degree in nursing or appropriate discipline from an accredited institution
  2. Unencumbered PA RN license
  3. Certification as a CRNA through the NBCRNA
  4. Three years of clinical experience providing direct patient care as a CRNA
  5. Teaching experience preferred
  6. Applicants must also have knowledge of CRNA practice and professional issues
  7. Participation in relevant professional organizations

This is a salaried position with a generous benefit and retirement program. Academic appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience.
