Description du poste

The Center for Metastasis Research eXcellence (MET-X) at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) is launching an open-rank faculty search for a wet laboratory and/or computational scientist to lead a research program focused on uncovering fundamental mechanisms of cancer metastasis using cutting‑edge experimental and computational approaches.

We are seeking applicants who share our goals of: (i) Discovering unifying principles that enable and sustain cancer metastasis; and (ii) Developing curative paradigms based on these discoveries. The successful candidate will be able to thrive in a dynamic research environment that encourages taking bold risks, take advantage of forums and financial mechanisms to foster collaboration, and leverage robust physical and intellectual infrastructure for their scientific success.

We encourage applications from candidates who lack prior experience/publications on metastasis. In particular, candidates who have innovated high resolution, multi‑dimensional approaches to study how cells function in context and are interested in applying these technologies to study metastasis are encouraged to apply. Scientists studying processes germane to metastasis (e.g., tissue regeneration) who wish to build a research program drawing cross‑informative parallels are also encouraged to apply. We will consider PhD, MD/PhD, or MD scientists at all faculty rank levels (i.e., incoming Assistant, Associate, or Full Professors).

Faculty are expected to perform their primary activities on‑site at Fred Hutch.

Fred Hutch is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute‑designated cancer center in Washington.

With a track record of global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy and COVID‑19 vaccines, Fred Hutch has earned a reputation as one of the world’s leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers. Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy and related services, and network affiliations with hospitals in five states. Together, our fully integrated research and clinical care teams seek to discover new cures to the world’s deadliest diseases and make life beyond cancer a reality.

At Fred Hutch we value collaboration, compassion, determination, excellence, innovation, integrity and respect. Our mission is directly tied to the humanity, dignity and inherent value of each employee, patient, community member and supporter. Our commitment to learning across our differences and similarities make us stronger. We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems.

Qualifications

For consideration, applicants must have a PhD, MD/PhD, MD or foreign equivalent. Expertise in applying and integrating high resolution, multi‑dimensional approaches to study cancer metastasis and/or related processes is preferred.

The annual base salary range for researchers in this position without a clinical practice is from $188,279 to $210,563 for faculty hired at the Assistant Professor rank, from $210,413 to $245,241 for faculty hired at the Associate Professor rank, and from $239,714 to $370,511 for faculty hired at the Full Professor rank.

The annual base salary range for MD physician‑scientists with an active practice is highly correlated with the area of specialty and ranges from $221,470 to $501,368 for faculty hired at the Assistant Professor rank, from $269,822 to $560,043 for faculty hired at the Associate Professor rank, and from $326,902 to $656,515 for faculty hired at the Full Professor rank.

Pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Pay for faculty positions is based on a variety of factors including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. Faculty without credited time in rank will generally start at the entry rate for their relevant specialty and rank. This position is eligible for relocation assistance or a sign‑on bonus.
