Job description

The Department of Urology at the University of Minnesota Medical School is seeking a full-time Pediatric Urologist for a clinical appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, on either the academic, master-clinician, or tenure track, based on departmental and university criteria.

About the Division:

Our pediatric urology team offers expertise in a wide range of conditions, from common issues like bed-wetting and urinary tract infections to complex congenital malformations. We treat infants, children, and even provide in-utero treatment. Our specialists are experienced in hypospadias, urinary obstruction, urine reflux, renal stones, and voiding dysfunction. We collaborate with the region’s only multidisciplinary center for disorders of sexual differentiation.

About the Appointment:

  • Engage in clinical and/or basic science research, patient care, and administrative duties.
  • Work at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital and manage an outpatient clinical practice.
  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and engage in service activities for the department and profession.
  • Attract students and residents to urology/pediatric urology, including those from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Contribute to research projects as a collaborator or independent investigator and participate in faculty development activities.
  • Be active in national organizations and foster an academic environment.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Urology residency and Pediatric Urology fellowship.
  • Board eligible or certified in Pediatric Urology.
  • Strong surgical skills and sensitivity to diverse patient backgrounds.
  • License or eligibility for Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in Minnesota.
  • Meet credentialing and privileges criteria.
  • Legal ability to work in the U.S. and maintain visa status if applicable.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team-oriented, patient-focused, detail-oriented, self-motivated, educational, and creative problem-solver.

Pay and Benefits:

The position is jointly employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the university, with a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Clinical salary is provided through M Physicians, with additional benefits including a substantial 401K contribution, well-being programs, CME and licensing fee allowances, malpractice insurance, and eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
